Royal Mail HQ
Graphics Planet were tasked with creating a design and scheme for its Headquarters in Farringdon. Working alongside the client’s Architects HLW, we met with the Royal Mail Property team and their Brand team to come up with a scheme to be delivered across both Mount Pleasant and the adjoining building 185 Farringdon Road
Overview
Develop a visual identity that aligns seamlessly with the architect’s vision while introducing uplifting imagery and bold messaging throughout Royal Mail’s Headquarters — a six-floor site located at Mount Pleasant in Clerkenwell, London.
We collaborated closely with Royal Mail Property & Facilities Solutions, to ensure the branding complemented the overall design direction.
The architectural concept, led by London-based firm HLW, aimed to create a grounded, authentic aesthetic for the HQ. Royal Mail approached Graphics Planet directly, seeking designs that felt more in tune with the building’s interior environment.
Taking inspiration from the slatted wooden working pods featured on each floor, we developed a linear design concept that echoed their clean, structured aesthetic. The concept was well received and quickly approved by the client.
For the wallcoverings we took a more subtle and considered approach, incorporating tinted background imagery paired with strong, purposeful messaging. This technique allowed us to deliver style and impact without relying on bold, stock-heavy visuals—ensuring the design remained in harmony with the overall workspace aesthetic.
BESPOKE DESIGNS
The creative approach focused on a grassroots branding strategy, with an emphasis on sustainability and eco-conscious design, incorporating recycled materials where possible.
We repurposed damaged Yorks — the iconic metal trolleys used for transporting mail and parcels — giving them a new lease of life as display units. These pieces were used to showcase powerful imagery of Royal Mail’s operations and highlight staff in action, celebrating the people behind the service.
The displays also featured Royal Mail’s remote-controlled drone, used to deliver parcels to some of the UK’s most remote destinations — a striking example of innovation in motion.
